This piece reflects what I had to overcome during 4 years of college. As the first in my family to make it this far, I was thrown into an unfamiliar world with little guidance, that’s why the space feels empty and liminal. I combined 3D art with 2D digital work to give the figure more emotional weight and presence. The large form represents my struggles, its clown-like eyes tied to a deep depression. The hands show family pressure. The gold figure is me now, imperfect, but learning to see those flaws as part of my personal beauty.

I’m originally from San Diego, California, but I’ve lived in Arizona for the past 8 years. I study graphic design and advertising, and by the time this is published, I’ll be a proud graduate. I’ve always loved 3D game design and film, so I try to blend those passions into my work.
